Marriage Workshop
We are excited to present a marriage workshop for converts to Islam. Learn how your unique story can illuminate the path to finding your ideal spouse.
Join our 3-part workshop on the 6th, 8th, and 10th of February from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.
Please note that there are limited spaces. Your place will be secured after filling out the registration form and making the £15 payment in full.

The Story of Self
Instructors: Victoria Matesky & Taf Mohammed (relationship coaches & founders of “Tea for Two”)
Topics covered:
Uncover Your Story – Uncover and define the driving forces in your life story i.e., your core values.
Identify Your Gifts – Build confidence by identifying the unique traits you bring to a relationship as a Convert & turn challenges into potential gifts.
Create Your Spiritual Blueprint – Create your unique spiritual blueprint based on your needs as a convert.

The Journey to Other
Instructor: Henrietta Szovati
Topics covered:
Knowing who we are is the foundation for our life. Knowing who the other (the person we are marrying) is the foundation for a successful marriage.
In this session you will be taken through a journey of getting to know your potential “other” by learning about:
- The story of your potential partner and how to recognise how it relates to you.
- Your blindspots (that can potentially lead to making mistakes in choosing a partner)
- The psychology of why and how we are attracted to another person.
- The red flags that are clear warning signs.
- How and why Islam provides the most powerful framework to way to find and choose the right partner for marriage.

Know Your Rights
Instructor: Bilal Brown
Topics covered:
Knowing how an Islamic marriage is conducted and your rights and responsibilities is a key component of safeguarding and a sound marriage.
Registering Interest – The appropriate method of approaching someone for marriage, what can and can’t be done.
Guardianship – Learn about the concept of guardianship and its role in an Islamic marriage.
The Mahr – Explanation of the mahr, who gives it and how much it should be.
The Contract – An overview of the marriage contract, prenuptial agreements, and conditions for divorce.

Course Instructors
Henrietta Szovati
Convert to Islam, Henrietta Szovati is a Writer, Leadership Coach, and Coaching Coordinator at the Barefoot Institute for Muslim Relationships. Henrietta is a CPCC (Certified Professional Co-Active Coach) and leadership graduate of the world’s leading coaching organisation, the Coaches Training Institute. She is the author of HeartSmart- One Woman’s Journey from her Head to her Heart. She is a trainer, supervisor and retreat leader and runs her own practice.
Henrietta has been at the forefront of cutting-edge scientific research on the brain and emotions and teaches emotional intelligence to couples and individuals. Her work is focused on helping men and women develop a deeper sense of intelligence, where emotions are the vehicle for sustainable change.
Henrietta has appeared on Islam Channel, the Muslim Vibe, and spoken at a number of international conferences.
She has been married for over 20 years and lives in London with her family and in Spain where she pursues her passion for nature, history and writing.
Victoria Matesky & Taf Mohammed
Married Couple and Founders of Tea For Two, Taf & Victoria are certified relationship coaches and between them both, they have almost five decades of experience in leading and facilitating group discussions, retreats and training courses. Both entrepreneurs, and ‘outside the box’ thinkers, they lead with a faith-inspired unique approach. They like to keep it real, heart-centred and guide Muslims to have true results in their love lives.
They have been featured on Islam Channel, BBC Radio, British Muslim TV and in The Muslim Vibe. Taf is an international award-winning relationship coach, and Victoria is a certified Gottman Institute Relationship Facilitator in the 7 Principles that Make Marriage Work.
Beyond their global mission to help all Muslims find love, you can find them in a coffee shop (talking for hours,) working out, spending time with their children and grandchildren, cooking some crazy delicious plant-based meals, or out exploring the beauty of England.
Bilal Brown
Shaykh Bilal Brown is a founder and teacher of New Beginnings. He graduated from Al-Dawli Institute of Arabic and Islamic Sciences in Damascus in 2012 in addition to studying privately with scholars in Damascus. He then went to Yemen to further his studies. He currently teaches Arabic and Islamic sciences in the northwest of England and online as well as conducting chaplaincy, translation, and community work. He features regularly on the Islam Channel and British Muslim TV.
Who Can Join
Those who are Muslim and have converted to Islam and those who are not Muslim may join.
Recordings
The sessions will be recorded and available to all participants, however, due to the interactive nature of some of the workshops, we encourage you to make your best effort to attend.
